- The Court Reporter I is responsible to stenographically record and produces transcripts of court proceedings to provide litigants with the ability to appeal decisions rendered by the court.
- The successful applicant must have the appropriate court reporting certification, proof of passing at 95% accuracy literary testing at 180 wpm, jury charge testing at 200 wpm and testimony testing at 225 wpm; a minimum of two years' prior court reporting experience; an understanding of courtroom procedures and vocabulary, including medical and legal terminology, proficiency in reporting and computerized transcribing.
- Adhere to reporting requirements to Chief Court Reporter or Court Administration regarding transcript completion and delivery dates as mandated by the PA Rules 4000 series
- Ability to write, at 95 percent accuracy, minimum speed levels of 225 wpm for testimony, 200 wpm for jury charges; 180 wpm for literary material.
- Two or more years experience in a court reporter field; i.e., free lance court reporting, closed-caption reporter, CART writer for a college or university
