- Under general supervision, the Construction Inspector Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the inspection of Public Works construction to ensure compliance with City- approved plans and job specifications.
- The Construction Inspector Manager conducts on-site inspections of all new utility, street, sub-grade soils testing, steel, drainage and other infrastructure to ensure that the installation is in compliance with approved construction plans and city standards.
- Provides emergency response to Public Works issues after hours which include but is not limited to all street problems, potholes, trees down, signals, signs, water and sewer issues.
- Inspects construction on water, sewer and storm sewer installation, paving, drainage, landscape, irrigation, franchise utilities and other infrastructure; checks barricades at lane closures; coordinates work between two or more contractors, schedules testing lab for on-site testing; checking on site materials; and measures quantities.
- Attends pre-construction meetings; conducts on site pre-construction meetings, reviews batch designs, views video tapes of job site conditions, sewer tapes, traffic control plans, trench safety plans, and monthly pay requests; fills out daily reports; answers complaints from residents and businesses; and assists contractors in solving problems.
