- Supervise students at recess, in the cafeteria, library, assistance for students riding the bus, and perform crossing guard duties before and after school.
- May assist with implementation of special education services for students i.e., IEP goals, medical assistance, physical support and personal care.
- Provide physical assistance for students with special needs such as feeding, toileting, proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment; assist students with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g., materials, assistive technology, visual aids).
- Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise and monitor students.
- Meet one of the following requirements:Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university, orHave earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university, orCompleted an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council, orReceived a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:ETS ParaPro Assessment.
