- The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Computational Scientist for our Alexandria, VA location.
- The ideal candidate has interests in computational methodologies such as computational structural mechanics, shock physics, or fluid dynamics.
- The candidate should have experience in both running computational models on high-performance computers, as well as developing code for new models or simulation tools written in a compiled language such as Fortran, C, or C
- The initial focus of this position will be to conduct high-fidelity solid mechanics simulations in classified, high-performance computing environments at Fort Belvoir, VA, as well as developing aids to assist with simulation setup and analysis from the ARA office in Alexandria, VA. Future projects will include using machine learning techniques to create faster running tools for simulating weapons effects environments or other physics-based applications.
- Support end-to-end scientific modeling and simulation, to include but not limited to computer aided design (CAD), meshing, deriving model parameters from written reports, simulation setup and execution, visualization, analysis, and reporting to customers
