- The Project Scientist should possess a strong theoretical knowledge of public health, behavioral sciences, epidemiology, and/or population sciences.
- Theoretical knowledge of public health, behavioral sciences, epidemiology and/or population sciences as typically attained by a Masters or doctorate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience in working with sources of health, population and social determinants of health data such as the California Cancer Registry, Census, American Community Survey, Los Angeles County Health Survey, California Health Interview Survey, CDC’s Population Level Analysis and Community Estimates (PLACES) and Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), CalEnviroScreen and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
- Experience in building effective data visualization tools such as infographics and presentations created in Powerpoint, Canva, Piktochart or Tableau
- Demonstrated experience in the analysis of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) and other cancer-related databases using statistical software such as SEER*Stat, SAS, Stata or R.
