The CNC Programmer/Manufacturing Engineerwill be responsible for direct hands-on support for the manufacturing floor. This role will be tasked with creating, maintaining, and the continuous improvement of multi-axis CNC program and associated documentation related to 3 & 5-Axis machining for complex aerospace and defense hardware. They will also be responsible for manufacturing engineering functions such as MES support, MBOM management in MES and ERP systems, process development, participating in RCCA investigations, and general engineering support. The candidate will utilize their technical expertise to work within the team to develop and implement those processes to meet engineering requirements. The CNC Programmer/Manufacturing Engineer will be required to take ownership of these processes from program conception to completion. Primary Responsibilities <ul><li>Provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.</li><li>Work with quality engineering and manufacturing groups to perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.</li><li>Develop 3 & 5-Axis CNC programs for machining of complex aerospace and defense hardware in a variety of materials including, but not limited to, inconel, titanium, alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminums, and composites.</li><li>Create complete work package consisting of CNC program, machining operation setup sheets, tool lists and other related documentation for use by machinist.</li><li>Analyze engineering drawings and required specifications to develop CNC program and process flow to meet drawing requirements.</li><li>Work with manufacturing engineering and machinists to develop manufacturing processes, including detailed work instructions, manufacturing sketches/drawings and other shop floor documentation.</li><li>Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods to provide solutions that positively affect cost, operator safety, productivity, and quality.</li><li>Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.</li><li>Maintain positive, team relationships, and effectively communicate between shifts.</li><li>Develop technical solutions to complex problems using a data driven approach.</li><li>Create and maintain manufacturing BOMs in ERP and MES systems. </li></ul>Basic Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace or Industrial Engineering with 2 or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a programming role.</li><li>Candidate will be required to read and understand engineering drawings.</li><li>Candidate must be able to interpret and apply GD&T principles.</li><li>Candidate must be capable of performing and communicating in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.</li><li>Candidate must have experience with Microsoft Office products, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.</li><li>Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville or north Alabama area.</li><li>Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess or meet the eligibility requirements to obtain (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance. </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of: <ul><li>NX CAD/CAM</li><li>Surfcam</li><li>Solidworks</li><li>Tooling and fixturing design</li><li>Renishaw CNC machine probing and inspection</li><li>CNC macro programming</li><li>Aerospace and defense assembly techniques</li><li>Lean manufacturing principles and applications </li></ul>Original Posting Date 2024-05-15 While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.
