- The role of a Civil Designer is to work independently and as a team member on a wide range of projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Project Manager within the broad field of civil engineering.
- A Civil Designer will perform a variety of tasks which may include investigations, analysis, calculations, preparation of drawings, exhibits, construction documents and CAD. The projects that a Civil Designer may be assigned to will be broad, varied, and diverse in scope, and include collaboration and work with other engineering disciplines, such as architecture, structural, mechanical and electrical.
- The Civil Designer role is intended for highly experienced CAD operators with independent design experience, or for Engineers in Training (EIT) with prior experience and a high level of CAD proficiency.
- Perform and assist with civil engineering design and preparation of construction drawings such as layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water and sewer utilities, and erosion control on site developments such as commercial development, public works, schools, and housing projects; water and wastewater utility and treatment projects; and heavy earthwork, marine, and military infrastructure projects.
- Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems, terrain modeling, and utility networks in environments such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, REVIT, and GIS.
