- Serve as senior level advisor to the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Chief of Staff, Executive Staff, and Local DSS Directors providing expert technical guidance on HR matters.
- Plan, direct, and manage the day-to-day operations of the DHS Human Resource Office through direct and indirect supervision of staff in 8 units: Employee Relations, Recruitment, Examination Services, Health Benefits, Classification, Transaction Compliance, Processing, and HR Systems & Support.
- Consult with the Office of the Inspector General, the Attorney General s Office, and the Office of Employment and Program Equity on issues that span HR and those offices, including investigations of fraud, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, disciplinary actions, and legal matters.
- Participate in the Legislative process on HR-related Legislation, including drafting impact statements as well as drafting and providing testimony as requested by the Department of Budget and Management s Office of Personnel Services and Benefits.
- Provide assistance as requested by the DHS Office of Government Affairs on DHS legislation.
