- Plans and implements specific treatment programs for patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy and in collaboration with the health care team.

- Directs and assists patients in techniques to include, but not limited to, self-care, the fabrication and application of splints, perceptual-motor and sensory integrative activities, balance coordination,guidance in the selection and use of adaptive equipment, exercises to increase functional performance and functional abilities in daily living skills and prevocational evaluation and treatment.
- Determines appropriate need for durable medical equipment and home medical needs.
- Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants in the implementation of the Occupational Therapy treatment plan with the patient.
