- Drives and operates emergency apparatus as approved and assists in the suppression of fires, conducts rescue, hazardous materials response, entry, ventilation, salvage and overhaul work and administers EMS care to patients, as prescribed by protocol;
- Assists with fire prevention inspections within fire districts as directed;
- Assist with public safety programs and tours of fire and rescue stations and grounds as required;
- The following certifications are required at the time of application:Firefighter Level I (Pro-Board, IFSAC, or VDFP recognized)Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (Level III)Mayday Firefighter Down Operations (Pro-Board, IFSAC, or VDFP recognized)Hazardous Material Operations (Pro-Board, IFSAC, or VDFP recognized).
- In addition: Emergency Medical Technician as recognized by the VA Office of Emergency Medical Services or National Registry of EMT's and have the ability to be cleared to practice in the department by the Operational Medical Director (OMD).
