- The Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) performs multiple roles within the cardiac laboratory including assisting physician(s) with invasive cardiac laboratory procedures and conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment.
- Responsibilities may also include preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating and scrubbing procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, acquire/measure/calculate hemodynamic date, perform blood work analysis, operate intra-cardiac ultrasound, clean procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for resterilization.
- Within the Cath Lab this may include structural procedurals and hemodynamics; within Heart Rhythm Services Lab, techs perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), hybrid extractions, and operate 3D mapping systems.
- Candidate is required to meet the following educational criteria to be eligible to sit for the RCIS or RCES exam through Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
