Calibration Technicians at this level typically can calibrate higher-level equipment and calibrate equipment across a minimum of four (4) disciplines, with expert knowledge in one (1) discipline (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with Transcats technician skills progression matrix. A Calibration Technician II will be capable of completing work independently within the lab or onsite at a customer location, with limited or no guidance. Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities <ul> <li>Perform calibration work with little to no supervision </li><li>Conduct independent research when necessary </li><li>Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager </li><li>Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques </li><li>Maintain calibration standards </li><li>Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made </li><li>Be able to read and interpret labs scopes of accreditation </li><li>Work effectively with lab support staff </li><li>Working knowledge and competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert in one (1) discipline preferred </li><li>Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer on-site setting </li><li>Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction </li><li>Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards </li><li>Other duties as may be assigned </li><li>Travel requirements: up to 50% of work schedule </li></ul> Primary Objectives <ul> <li>Learn and develop fundamental skills necessary to calibration techniques and processes, which includes high level production with minimal errors </li><li>Develop team lead skills and responsibilities </li><li>Develop skills necessary to train and advise lower-level technicians </li><li>Develop skills necessary to advance to Tech III position, which includes a working knowledge and competency in at least six (6) disciplines and expert in two (2) disciplines </li><li>Strive to obtain the ASQ/CCT or CMT certification </li><li>Deliver on Transcats Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001) </li></ul> Qualifications: Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications <ul> <li>Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction </li><li>Strong interpersonal and customer service skills </li><li>Excellent attention to detail </li><li>Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes </li><li>Ability to take direction and learn from feedback </li><li>Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team </li><li>3+ years driving experience with a valid drivers license </li></ul> Education and Experience Associates degree from college or technical school, or 3+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: <ul> <li>Three+ (3+) years of commercial calibration experience </li><li>Previous experience or training in electronics or machining </li><li>Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics </li><li>Familiarity with basic hand tools </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook </li><li>Basic organizational and time management skills </li><li>Familiarity with basic hand tools </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook </li><li>Advanced organizational and time management skills </li><li>Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics </li></ul> Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
