- Position Focus: The Yale University Art Gallery (YUAG) seeks to fill a position of Associate Curator responsible for oversight of some aspect of the Gallery’s collection of art from the Ancient Mediterranean, Ancient Near East, or Ancient Americas.
- The Associate Curator, reporting to the Chief Curator and Curator of European Art, will take an active role in planning exhibitions, programs, and publications; direct conservation projects and gallery installations; lecture on aspects of the Department’s holdings; initiate research on acquisitions, loans, and on the permanent collection; field public inquiries; and assume stewardship and donor cultivation responsibilities.
- It is expected that they will work closely with the other curatorial departments when appropriate and will have an interest in the teaching goals of the Gallery.
- In collaboration with Conservation, evaluate the suitability of loan requests and perform courier duties as necessary.
- Additional duties of teaching, publishing, and lecturing in the candidate’s area of expertise are strongly encouraged, with particular emphasis given to collaborating with museum colleagues, Yale faculty and colleagues at other Yale museums, students, and local communities.
