- You'll work closely with the small (5 attorneys including this hire), collaborative legal team within LWDA. The Assistant General Counsel provides advice and counsel to the California Secretary of Labor, General Counsel, and other members of the LWDA executive team on a wide variety of complex and high-profile legal and policy issues.
- The Assistant General Counsel also provides guidance and oversight to LWDA departments, divisions, and boards, such as the Labor Commissioner's Office and Cal/OSHA within the Department of Industrial Relations, the Employment Development Department, the Agricultural Labor Relations Board, and the California Workforce Development Board on complex and high-profile legal and policy issues.
- The Assistant General Counsel's work includes a wide variety of substantive fields of law, including labor and employment, government, ethics, and constitutional law.
- The work includes overseeing high-profile litigation, providing advice on implementation and interpretation of the Labor Code and Unemployment Insurance Code, reviewing proposed regulations, reviewing and overseeing Public Records Act responses, and advising leadership on internal personnel matters.
