- POSITION DETAILSAbout the Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College The Center for Puerto Rican Studies is a research institute dedicated to the study and interpretation of the Puerto Rican experience in the United States, producing and disseminating relevant interdisciplinary research.
- We seek to link scholarship to social action and policy debates and to contribute to the betterment of our community and enrichment of Puerto Rican Role: The Archivist's primary assignment would be processing a recently acquired archival collection, consistent with preservation protocols.
- This position will work under the supervision of Archival Collections Manager and may oversee the work of college assistants for specific projects.
- Responsibilities: The Archivist is responsible for the arrangement and description of personal papers and records of organizations in Centro Archives holdings.
- Implementing "More Product, Less Process" collection processing;Appraising and describing archival materials;Weeding and inventorying the collection(s);Performing writing, researching, and editing: finding aids, reports, and web content;Supervising and training work-study students for project(s);Working collaboratively with staff in a team environment to promote collection(s).
