- The Accelerator Operations and Technology Division Applied Electrodynamics (AOT-AE) group is seeking a Scientist 3/4 to provide expertise, support, and technical leadership in all aspects of accelerator and electrodynamics physics and engineering at the AOT-AE group.
- AOT-AE maintains a vigorous and robust technical base for addressing DOE and DOD needs by balancing its project portfolio between exploratory research, infrastructure development, and programmatic deliverables for sponsors, including the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE), the Dual-Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test Facility (DARHT), and emerging accelerator programs.
- The AOT-AE group comprises expertise in particle accelerator design, room temperature and superconducting RF structures, particle accelerator diagnostics, vacuum systems, proton and electron beam physics, beam modeling and control, advanced photocathodes, high power beam injectors, free-electron lasers, other X-ray sources, as well as directed energy, high power microwaves, compact pulse power and other applied electrodynamics concepts.
- In addition to what was outlined above at the Scientist 3 level, Scientist 4 will serve as part of the AOT-AE leadership team and oversee a broad range of basic and applied accelerator science and technology programs for national security and non-defense applications, including participation in the research and development of projects both internal and external to the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
