Job Summary The Housing Authority Program (HAP) Accountant actively engages with internal and external partners to ensure that transactions regarding HAP funds are reflected accurately and in a timely manner. This team member has primary responsibility for managing assigned market workflows, payments, and audits and being the customer support representative between Invitation Home teams and the Participating Housing Authority (PHA). Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: reviewing resident profile accounts; posting monthly HAP rent payments; preparing HAP-related reporting; monitoring HAP aged receivables; and aiding/guiding/evaluating issues with the Operations Team as needed on HAP accounts. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities <ul><li>Train and mentor new team members.</li><li>Provide financial data on a prospective Resident's Residency for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) packets.</li><li>Access Participating Housing Authority (PHA) portals to extract payment information.</li><li>Create receipt batches in Yardi to apply payments to open HAP charges.</li><li>Research HAP and Resident accounts receivable balance to determine the accuracy of charges and payment application.</li><li>Communicate with the Operations Team and PHA representatives to resolve discrepancies and share HAP correspondence.</li><li>Review HAP contracts and Resident leases to verify charges.</li><li>Monitor emails/mail daily and provide timely responses and processing.</li><li>Research, review, and process incoming inquiries from internal and external partners.</li><li>Audit and analyze resident ledgers, weekly HAP reports, and open receivables.</li><li>Assist with ad hoc projects, as needed.</li></ul><ul><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Education and/or Experience <ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.</li><li>2+ years of related work experience in a high-volume accounting environment.</li><li>Real estate or Property Accounting experience.</li><li>Yardi experience preferred.</li></ul> Skills/Specialized Knowledge <ul><li>Superb accuracy and attention to detail.</li><li>Adaptable to new technology platforms and processes.</li><li>Strong organizational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.</li><li>Strong reconciliation skills.</li><li>Knowledge of HUD policies and regulations.</li><li>Ability to use a personal computer and advanced working knowledge of email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and accounting software.</li><li>Ability to perform mathematical and accounting functions.</li><li>Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).</li><li>Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others.</li><li>Professional verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to make quick and effective decisions.</li><li>Ability to analyze and resolve problems.</li><li>Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.</li></ul> Other Requirements <ul><li>Must maintain professional appearance. </li><li>Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; Overtime may be required for this position. </li></ul> Work Environment <ul><li>Hybrid work schedule (3 days minimum per week required in office).</li></ul> Salary Range $22.14 - $38.38Compensation and Benefits To attract and retain top talent, we're pleased to offer competitive compensation and benefits, including: <ul><li>Annual bonus program</li><li>Health, dental, vision, and life insurance</li><li>Long-term and short-term disability insurance</li><li>Generous paid time off plans include vacation accrual, sick time, standard holidays and floating holidays</li><li>401(k) with company matching contributions</li><li>Awesome work environment with casual dress</li><li>Team events and gatherings (Pre- and Post-Covid)</li></ul> Invitation Homes is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and innovative environment with the best associates.
