- This position is available to formerly incarcerated people interested in: community building, decarceration, ecological restoration, cooperative development, aquaponics farming, and/or BIPOC food sovereignty.
- Co-created with incarcerated people at San Quentin State Prison in 2022, Earth Equity’s mission is to reduce recidivism; eliminate unjust food practices in prisons, jails, and fence-line communities; and nurture system-impacted people.
- We do this by creating programs which provide ecological education and job skills training to incarcerated people, supporting people in reentry, and caring for the communities and ecosystems to which they return.
- As kelp forests offer lessons in abolition and mutual aid, system- impacted people bring immense creativity, resourcefulness, and expertise as researchers, organisers, care workers, and leaders in Environmental Justice.
