Full-time
- The goal of the training program in Medical and Public Health Laboratory Microbiology (CPEP Program) based at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is to train fellows to assume leadership roles in academic, tertiary care and or public health clinical microbiology laboratories.
- Philosophically we believe that this education is best accomplished through hands-on instruction in microbiological methods, direct participation in the consultative and administrative activities of the microbiology laboratory, and participation in activities of the infectious diseases, pharmacy, and infection control/hospital epidemiology departments.
- Therefore, it is an expectation that fellows will become involved in medical microbiology-related research academic activities during their fellowship training.
- Provide consultative clinical services in the area of medical microbiology to BIDMC staff inclusive of pathology, infectious diseases, pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control divisions and departments at BIDMC under supervision of medical microbiology attendings.
- Provide technical support for clinical microbiology diagnostic activities at BIDMC under the supervision of medical microbiology attendings.
