- Interfaces with the jail commissary software vendor to manage inmate orders and facility supplies.
- The accounting specialist is responsible for coordinating the Sheriff's Office annual budget process, accounts payable processing, purchasing, accounting, revenue and expenditure forecasting, and grant administration per County and Sheriff's Office policies.
- The accounting specialist, the Undersheriff, and the Sheriff review budget requests in detail and establish the priorities by funding source, with the Sheriff approving the final submission to the County.
- The accounting specialist provides copies of the year-end bank statements for both the Inmate Escrow Account and Inmate Commissary Account for inclusion in the Agency Fund section of the County's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
- Generally, all financial reporting/billing requirements for grants will be handled by the County Finance Department, although there are specific situations where the Sheriff's Office accounting specialist may assume responsibility for financial reporting and/or billing.
