Surgery - General Nurse Practitioner

This position is for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP) specializing in cardiothoracic surgery, supporting both surgical and inpatient care at a hospital-based setting. The role involves assisting in open cardiac and thoracic procedures, as well as managing patients in acute care and ICU environments. It is a full-time locum assignment created to replace a recently retired APP. Dates / Schedule Start: As soon as credentialedDuration: 6 9 monthsSchedule: Monday Friday with call coverageCall Requirements:1 2 weekdays + weekendsNight call: 5:00 PM 7:00 AMFTE: 1.0 Job Details / Responsibilities Provide care for 100% adult cardiothoracic patients in a hospital setting (95% hospital / 5% clinic).Assist in and support open cardiothoracic surgeries, including:Coronary artery bypass (on-pump)Valve repair and replacementManage pre-, intra-, and post-operative patients, including ICU care.Perform inpatient rounding and patient management:Daily census: 5 10 patientsICU patients: 2 7Admissions: 0 3 per daySurgeries: 1 2 per dayParticipate in call coverage, including responding to patient needs and callbacks.Use EPIC EMR for documentation.Collaborate with a team of physicians, APPs, RN navigators, and medical assistants.Preferred (but not required) experience includes:Aneurysm repairs (cardiac and aorto-thoracic)Lung resections (including VATS)Chest wall/pleural proceduresLVAD managementVentilator management and acute hemodynamic stabilizationCentral line placement Required Skills & Qualifications Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) requiredActive Washington state license requiredStrong experience in cardiothoracic surgery, including:Operating room (first assist) experienceICU and acute care patient managementAbility to assist in open cardiac procedures and manage post-op complicationsClean malpractice and background history (highly preferred)Local candidate with minimal travel needs (highly preferred)Comfortable working in a high-acuity hospital environment with call responsibilities
