Senior Software/Infrastructure/Platform Engineer - Remote (EST/CST)
You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Design, build, and operate foundational Wallet platform infrastructureStand up cloud-native and Kubernetes-based services and shared platform componentsOwn platform nonfunctional requirements including performance, resiliency, security, and availability (99.99% SLA)Enable API platforms using REST and GraphQL, including traffic management and cachingEstablish production readiness standards, automation, monitoring, and alertingDrive infrastructure scalability, capacity planning, and reliability engineeringLead vulnerability remediation and secure-by-design platform practicesProvide end-to-end ownership of platform SLAs across releases and scale eventsPartner with application teams to enable new Wallet capabilities and integrationsProvide production support for the platform, including incident triage, root cause analysis, and remediationParticipate in on-call rotations and support escalations to ensure platform stabilityLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement.*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in CS or IT or engineering related field7+ years' experience designing and operating highly available, resilient platforms7+ years' experience with API platforms (Java, REST and GraphQL) and integration patterns3+ years of experience in platform or infrastructure engineering for cloud-native systems3+ years' hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized application platforms2+ years' experience with CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code1+ years of experience supporting production systems, including incident response and on-call supportAbility to work on-call rotation as per business needPreferred Qualifications:Strong understanding of security, compliance, and production operationsAbility to own platforms end-to-end in a regulated, SLA-driven environmentExperience supporting systems with 99.99% availability requirementsExperience building and operating shared platforms used by multiple teamsBackground in financial services, payments, or enterprise-scale platformsExperience balancing production support responsibilities with new platform deliveryPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment.
