Design Engineer
Job Description
OverviewThe Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development of mechanical products, leading designs from initial concept through production release. This role operates in a fast-paced environment with accelerated product development cycles and requires strong technical execution, organization, and time management.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop new products from concept through prototyping and production releaseCreate and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD softwareGenerate and manage all required technical documentation, including:Bills of Materials (BOMs)Assembly and weldment drawingsInstallation instructionsManufacturing support documentation (e.g., fixtures)Collaborate closely with project and manufacturing engineers to ensure design feasibility and manufacturabilitySupport prototype builds, testing, and iterative design improvementsEnsure accuracy, organization, and version control of engineering documentation within PDM systemsBalance multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment (typical cycles ≤ 6 months)Product & Technical ScopeMechanical systems and structures for equipment and vehicle accessoriesDesigns involving materials such as:Sheet metalFormed tubingGlassThermoformed plasticsStrong emphasis on design for manufacturability (DFM), especially with sheet metal componentsQualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering requiredExperience5+ years of experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawingsExperience with PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM Professional preferred)Hands-on experience designing with sheet metal and tubular structures preferredSkills & CompetenciesStrong proficiency in CAD design and product documentationExperience with surface modeling and finite element analysis (FEA) preferredHigh attention to detail and exceptional organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet aggressive timelinesStrong collaboration skills across engineering and manufacturing teamsSelf-driven with the ability to work effectively under pressureWork EnvironmentFast-paced engineering environment with rapid product development cyclesFrequent cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and project teams#ZRDHCompany DescriptionWe are the experts in Human Capital.
