Behavioral Health Technician
Desert Oasis Recovery is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Chef / Cook to prepare nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals for clients in our residential treatment facility. This position will work 5 days per week and will be responsible for preparing and serving hot lunch and dinner for facility clients, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, efficient, and comfortable working in a behavioral health treatment setting. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of providing quality meals in a respectful and supportive environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare and cook hot lunch and dinner for clients 5-6 days per weekPlan and prepare meals that are nutritious, balanced, and appropriate for a residential treatment settingFollow food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness standards at all timesMaintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, food prep areas, and food storage areasMonitor food inventory and notify management of needed supplies and grocery itemsProperly store, label, and handle food in accordance with health and safety requirementsAccommodate dietary restrictions, food allergies, and special meal needs as directedEnsure meals are prepared on time and in appropriate quantities for the number of clients servedAssist with basic kitchen recordkeeping as neededWork cooperatively with facility staff and maintain a professional demeanor at all timesQualifications:Previous experience as a cook, chef, or food service worker requiredExperience preparing meals for groups, facilities, schools, treatment centers, or similar settings preferredKnowledge of food safety and sanitation practices requiredAbility to prepare consistent, quality meals in a timely mannerAbility to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchenDependable attendance and punctuality requiredAbility to communicate professionally with staff and clientsExperience working in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, or recovery settings is a plusFood handler certification or ability to obtain oneCandidate must not be listed on any federal or state exclusion, suspension, or debarment list, including those related to Medicare, Medicaid, or Medi-Cal, and must be eligible to work in programs and services funded in whole or in part by government healthcare programs.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry food, supplies, and kitchen items as neededAbility to perform routine kitchen cleaning and food preparation tasksWork Environment:This position works within a residential substance use disorder treatment facility.
