Creative Studio Assistant

_*Position Summary*_
We are looking for a friendly, energetic, dependable *Studio Assistant* to join our team.
Studio Assistants are a huge part of the customer experience at Steele’s. You will help guests choose projects, explain how things work, answer questions, keep the studio clean and organized, and help everything run smoothly throughout the day.
This is a hands-on, fast-moving position that combines *customer service, creativity, cleaning, organization, and teamwork*.
*Please note: this is not a position where you will spend your shift creating art. Cleaning, resetting, organizing, and maintaining the studio are essential parts of this role and are expected throughout every shift.*
You do *not* need to be an experienced artist—we will teach you the techniques and studio procedures you need to know.
_*Responsibilities*_
* Welcome guests and help them get started with their studio experience
* Explain pottery painting, glazing, clay, and other studio processes
* Help customers choose colors, tools, brushes, and techniques
* Check in with guests throughout their visit and offer assistance when needed
* Answer general questions about studio services, events, classes, parties, and pickup procedures
* Assist with parties, classes, events, and larger group experiences
* Keep tables, work areas, shelves, counters, sinks, bathrooms, and common areas clean and organized
* Sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, dust, take out trash, and complete routine cleaning tasks
* Wash and organize brushes, tools, paint supplies, and studio equipment
* Restock pottery, paints, supplies, paper products, and other materials
* Follow opening, closing, and daily studio task lists
* Help prepare the studio for upcoming events and busy periods
* Complete assigned projects and organizational tasks during slower periods
* Work together with other staff members to keep customers supported and the studio running efficiently
* Follow all studio procedures, safety guidelines, and customer service expectations

The right person for this role is:

* Patient and able to explain things clearly
* Dependable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
* Comfortable working independently while also being part of a team
* Proactive and able to notice what needs done without always being asked
* Able to stay productive during slower periods
* Organized and able to handle multiple tasks at once
* Comfortable working in a busy, sometimes loud, family-focused environment
* *Willing to clean—cleaning and resetting the studio are important parts of this position*
* Open to learning new art techniques and studio procedures
* Flexible with scheduling, including some evenings and weekends
Previous customer service, hospitality, childcare, retail, or creative experience is helpful, but not required.
_*Physical Requirements*_
This position requires the ability to:
* Stand and move around the studio for approximately 5–7 hours
* Bend, reach, squat, and perform routine cleaning tasks
* Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
* Safely move boxes, supplies, pottery, tables, and other studio materials as needed

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
