JOB TITLE: Switchboard Operator
SHIFT: .5 FTE, Part-time, days
SHIFT PREMIUMS: 10% premium added to the hourly rate for 2nd shift
15% premium added to the hourly rate for 3rd shift
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with people.
3. Ability to operate a switchboard.
4. Ability to keep calm in emergencies.
5. Ability to handle confidential information.
6. Ability to operate a computer and function in Microsoft Office software.
7. Excellent phone skills.
8. Customer service skills.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for answering all incoming calls and to provide general hospital information.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Exemplifies excellent customer service.

4. Demonstrates proficient use of email.
5. Ensures good working relationship with other hospital departments, physicians and physician offices.
6. Greet and direct visitors in a customer friendly manner.
7. Is aware of hospital’s emergency plans and observes safety precautions.
8. Observes conduct in main lobby and adjacent areas-notifying security as needed.
9. Operate Physician Referral Service and respond to caller requests as appropriate.
10. Provide radio communications with security and maintenance as needed.
11. Is concerned at all times with the patient’s and public’s safety, welfare and security.
12. Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
14. Must be able to work various shifts. Fill in for vacations.
15. Answers calls for Home Care and Hospice. Pages Hospice/Home Health Care nurses as needed after hours.
16. Monitors and responds to the emergency alarm panels by making the appropriate notifications and announcements.
