Prevention & Family Engagement Specialist
This position provides prevention and early intervention services in East Multnomah County middle schools by offering support to youth and families with a focus on reducing risky student behaviors such as truancy, poor school performance, alcohol and drug use, negative behavior, etc.
What you'll do:
· Individual case management with youth and families who have been identified by schools and community partners.
· Provide consistent and on-going positive role modeling for youth and families.
· Provide evidence-based prevention instruction to students in classroom settings.
· Facilitate evidence-based life skills groups in schools during the school year and over the summer break.
· Co-facilitate evening culturally specific family enrichment groups.
· Organize and participate in monthly harm reduction trainings and community events across East Multnomah County and rural parts of Clackamas County.
· Provide substance abuse prevention education as well as alcohol and drug trends and the benefits of harm reduction to parents, school staff, and community members.
· Identify client barriers to services/supports and then provide appropriate referrals to clients and/or their family members.
· Develop and maintain professional relationships with schools, juvenile justice, BHRN partners, and other relevant community partners.
· Regular attendance is required.
· Other duties as required.
Who you are:
· Bilingual/bicultural. Must be able to speak, read and write Spanish and English fluently.
· A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
· A minimum of one year of experience working with at-risk youth and/or families.
· A minimum of one year of experience with community engagement work.
