Authorizations Specialist

Job SummaryThe Authorizations Specialist is responsible for verifying and obtaining authorizations based upon the plan of care for all clients as required by insurance providers. The Authorizations Specialist will partner with the Regional Directors, Consultants, and a multitude of departments to maintain information and to ensure proper services are approved. The Authorizations Coordinator must be detail and task oriented, have excellent communication and relationship building skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare and EMR systems, and will be efficient, focused and have a systematic approach.Essential Responsibilities And DutiesManage all authorization requests to ensure they are submitted in a timely mannerEnter, monitor and audit information to confirm accuracy for all parties affectedCommunicate with Regional Directors, Consultants, and other team members on a daily basis to guarantee all data is correct for services and billing purposesResponsible for submitting and following up with insurance companies for receipt of the authorization request, and to obtain updated information or additional authorizationsMeet deadlines providedAdhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulationsOther work as requestedKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and data systemsTeam player who thrives in an environment with high level of communication and collaborationMust have benefit education/verification knowledgeDemonstrated ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy with confidential informationStrong attention to detail and highly organizedExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work independently, productively and well under pressureService orientedStrong phone etiquette and skill setQualifications EDUCATION - High School graduate required. Associate's Degree preferred.EXPERIENCE - One-year experience preferred in healthcare with a demonstrated working knowledge of health care industry and commercial payor authorization process.
