Head Gymnastics Coach - Xcel Program

Description The Aftershock Gymnastics Team trains out of PowerKids Center in beautiful Palm Desert, CA. Our competitive team has been carefully selected from our tryout system, based on gymnasts' interest and aptitude to advance to our highly successful program. We are seeking the right coach to lead the current team while growing and expanding it in alignment with the Aftershock guidelines and philosophy. Extensive support and training will be provided to the ideal candidate. We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Xcel Program for an experienced Coach to lead our Xcel Team at Aftershock. Gymnastics, Dance, Cheer and/or other performance background is required, and the right candidate will also be driven, enthusiastic and eager to learn. A well-established team, our program leaders will work closely with a successful candidate to train and work in tandem to create a positive addition for the whole team, athletes and coach alike. Aftershock Team Coaches are responsible for: Teaching progressive gymnastics classes in our Xcel Program in successful preparation for competition. Many of our instructors choose to work in multiple departments, teaching a wide range of ages and levels. Aftershock Team Coaches demonstrate a commitment to coach all levels in a safe, positive environment where our athletes can compete, develop, and flourish. Creating your own lesson plans and tracking skill development under Aftershock Gymnastics standards. We provide the resources, but you get to be creative in how you want to teach your gymnasts. We offer 14,000 square feet of equipment with trampolines and in-ground pits – so you have the tools you need to be successful. Communicating with Xcel parents about their child’s progression in your classes. Our coaches play a key role in their development as a child and as an athlete. Our candidate is great at making positive parent connections and fostering a respectful culture between the gym and the parents. Participating in our paid training opportunities. This can include USA Gymnastics clinics, local SoCal clinics, in-house trainers, and more! Assist in light cleaning duties to keep our gyms fresh and ready for the next round of classes. Qualifications Aftershock Gymnastics is looking for: Previous experience coaching Xcel Gymnastics, Dance and/or Tumbling is preferred. We can train the right candidate if you were a performer yourself and are enthusiastic about learning, growing and positively influencing a program. Knowledge of USAG Xcel Program or willing to learn the Code of Points and requirements. Ability to multitask coaching duties with administrative needs and the needs of the overall team program alongside your fellow Aftershock Gymnastics coaches. Ability to spot athletes safely and effectively (training available). Ability to build meaningful relationships with both youth and adults. Enthusiastic about working with youth - previous experience is preferred. Experience working in fast-paced, active environments or thrive in these type of environments. Demonstrates the ability to resolve conflicts or disagreements in a professional manner, maintaining resilience and objectivity without becoming discouraged or taking issues personally. Desire to promote a positive learning environment for every child. Basic knowledge or experience as a gymnast is great, but we train people from all backgrounds. Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, and climb to move through the facility safely and for spotting purposes is required. Ability to spot an athlete, including the strength to lift and carry at minimum 50 pounds is required. Become a role model for children in the community!
