Summary:We are currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer. Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant, the Police Officer provides a range of routine and emergency police services. Police Officers enforce criminal laws along with county and city ordinances.See full job descriptionMinimum Requirements:Must obtain and maintain Utah LEO POST certificationMust possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's LicenseMust be able to qualify on a yearly basis in required areas such as firearms, emergency vehicle operations, department physical ability course, and arrest control (unless excused by Chief of Police)Must attend mandatory training as defined by department policyMust pass a one-year probationary periodMust have knowledge of criminal and traffic laws, rules of proper verbal and written communication, ethical principles, and principles of self-defenseMust demonstrate great responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, money, and toolsMust demonstrate great responsibility for decisions that affect the lives and well-being of othersMust demonstrate the use of sound judgment when deciding when to take police action and what situations warrant an arrestMust be able to type at least 30 words per minute (typing test required)Utah State Statute requires that a peace officer meets the following:Must be a United States citizen OR a lawful resident who has been in the United States legally for 5 years and has legal authorization to work in the United StatesMust be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment as a peace officerMay not have been convicted of an offense involving dishonesty, unlawful sexual conduct, physical violence, and/or domestic violenceMay not have been convicted of the unlawful use, sale, or possession of a controlled substance in the past five yearsMay not have been convicted of a crime for which the applicant could have been punished by imprisonment in a federal penitentiary of this or another stateMust be a High School graduateMust demonstrate good moral character as determined by a background investigationMust be free of any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that might adversely affect the performance of duty as a peace officerNote: Applications may only be submitted online.
