Staff Accountant - Property
My client is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities related to housing programs, grant funding, and ongoing construction projects. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance requirements, and assisting with monthly and annual reporting.The Staff Accountant will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure financial activity is properly tracked, reconciled, and reported in accordance with GAAP and applicable funding guidelines.ResponsibilitiesGeneral & Housing Program AccountingPerform budget-to-actual analysis and assist with financial reviewsSupport compliance monitoring related to housing programs and internal controlsAssist with preparation of annual property-level budgetsReconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedulesParticipate in month-end and year-end close activitiesAssist with audit and tax preparation support as neededPrepare routine financial reports for internal and external useGrant & Program ReportingReconcile grant funding and related expensesAssist with preparation and submission of funding requestsSupport monthly and annual program reportingProvide financial support to program staff and respond to reporting inquiriesConstruction & Capital ProjectsTrack financial activity for projects under constructionMonitor spending against approved budgetsAssist with preparation of project draw requestsSupport reconciliation of construction-related accounts at year-endCompensation & ScheduleHourly pay starting in the low-to-mid $30s, with flexibility based on experienceFull-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours per weekMonday-Friday, in-officeBenefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement contribution, paid holidays, vacation, and sick timeQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or related field (near-completion considered)At least two years of accounting or related experienceExposure to government, nonprofit, housing, or property accounting preferredCPA or CPA-track a plusSkills & KnowledgeWorking knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practicesExperience with reconciliations and financial reportingFamiliarity with grant or compliance-based accounting preferredStrong Excel and basic office software skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
