Process Engineer

Process EngineerPOSITION PURPOSETroubleshoot issues at operating plants and develop timely, cost-effective solutions. Provide design packages with equipment specifications and P&ID updates. Assist in managing projects to completion, including time tracking.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Develop understanding of company processes and customer communication protocols- Conduct research to develop new and improved ethanol manufacturing processes, including P&ID and equipment specification development- Develop material and energy balances for new and developing processes with input from senior engineers- Design plant layouts and assist customers in constructing, controlling, and improving equipment for ethanol processes at industrial scale- Analyze operating procedures, equipment, and machinery function to reduce processing time and cost- Design processes to control movement and storage of solids, liquids, and gases- Design and plan measurement and control systems for ethanol plants based on laboratory, pilot plant, and industrial scale data- Determine most effective arrangement of unit operations, balancing process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and safety- Lead activities of workers operating and controlling equipment such as condensers, evaporators, pumps, columns, heat exchangers, valves, tanks, boilers, compressors, pipelines, and centrifuges- Perform tests and take measurements throughout production stages to determine control over variables such as temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure- Apply chemical engineering principles to solve environmental problemsQUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline required- 3-5 years process engineering or related experience/training required- Excellent computer skills using MS Office, Adobe, and AutoCAD- Attention to detail- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills- Ability to work with minimal supervision after initial training- Fluent verbal and written English- Honest and integrity-drivenPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Frequent site visits required; 20% travel required or as needed- Current, valid driver's license with no restrictions- Ability to sit for extended periods- Fine visual acuity for reading accuracy- May be exposed to loud noises, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures- May be required to work in high, precarious places- Lifting of up to 70 pounds seldom
