As a DBA / Data Engineer, you will own and optimize our database platforms, while building scalable data pipelines, modeling systems, and analytical infrastructure across AWS and Azure. You’ll work at the intersection of data reliability, pipeline scalability, and AI automation—helping power a high-performing, data-driven diagnostic platform.This role requires someone who can bring deep expertise in database operations and modern data engineering practices, while embracing an AI-first mindset to automate and enhance performance, observability, and efficiency across the data stack. You will be a critical hands-on contributor who builds and maintains the foundational infrastructure that enables our product and engineering teams to move fast, securely, and intelligently.Database Ownership & Engineering Duties:Lead operational management of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases hosted in AWS (RDS, Aurora) and AzureEnsure database availability, performance, backups, replication, and disaster recoveryContinuously optimize database queries and indexing to support product performance at scaleImplement AI-augmented tooling and automation for monitoring, tuning, and routine database maintenanceData Engineering & Infrastructure Duties:Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support real-time and batch processingDevelop data integration workflows across internal and external data sources, including APIs and partner systemsSupport data lake and warehouse infrastructure, optimizing for performance and cost-efficiencyDefine and enforce best practices for data quality, lineage, and schema governanceEnable analytics, AI, and product teams by delivering trusted, well-structured datasets and modelsAI-First Enablement Duties:Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into data workflows (e.g., anomaly detection, data validation, pipeline optimization)Champion adoption of AI-based tools and automation across database and data engineering operationsExperiment with and integrate modern AI agents, copilots, and models to accelerate data workflowsWho You Are:5+ years of experience in a combined Database Administration and/or Data Engineering roleDeep experience administering PostgreSQL and MySQL in production, cloud-native environmentsStrong experience building and scaling data pipelines with tools like Airflow, DBT, or similarHands-on skills with AWS (including RDS, Aurora, S3, Glue, Lambda) and familiarity with Azure data servicesProficient in Terraform and modern CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)Strong scripting ability (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and workflow orchestrationCommitted to working in an AI-first environment—excited by rapid learning and tool integrationDetail-oriented problem solver who values performance, scalability, and reliabilityCollaborative, communicative, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentPreferred Qualifications:AWS or Azure certificationsExperience with stream processing (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis) and real-time data architectureFamiliarity with observability stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, or DatadogExposure to security, compliance, and auditing frameworks (HIPAA, SOC2, etc.)Everlywell is on a mission to transform diagnostics into a data-driven, accessible, and empowering experience for every consumer and healthcare partner.
