POSITION: Early Childhood Migrant Preschool TeacherCATEGORY: Certified/ClassifiedLOCATION: Migrant PreschoolREPORTS TO: Principal and Federal Programs DirectorSUMMARY: To provide students with a daily and ongoing instructional program that will provide for them the best possible academic knowledge and skills. To help students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPrepare for assigned classesDesign lessons with an appropriate level of instruction, scaffolding, differentiation, and leveled supports needed for each student to succeed, grow, and expand in a logical and sequential mannerEmploy a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involvedMeet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designatedIdentify student needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needsAnalyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activitiesFollow modifications and accommodations as needed; especially with awareness of languageDevise written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts, and use them to evaluate student progress on a regular basisPrepare students academically for all district, state, and federal testingDisplay command of the subject matterBudget class time effectively, provide written lessons, and daily schedulesEncourage students to strive to meet their highest potentialEstablish and communicate classroom rules, and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorEngage children in conversation to encourage language developmentMake provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable termsWork to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned studentsTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesAssist, where appropriate, in loading and unloading students from transportation buses or vans Attend and participate in faculty meetings, home visits, parent meetings, and stay in close collaboration with migrant liaison on student(s), families, and overall needsKeep principal, federal program director, and migrant liaison informed of activities or issues that may ariseCooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum, objectives, and methodsProvide needed and requested information on a timely and effective basisWork cooperatively with regular education teaching staff to coordinate instructional activities and to monitor the progress of each pupil Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and keep record of student’s growthAssist in the transition from preschool to kindergartenInput data in a timely fashionAssist in upholding and enforcing school rulesAssume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publicationsAdhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of EducationSeek assistance should emergencies ariseRepresent the school district in a positive mannerKnow and follow school district policy and chain of commandPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNone.Qualification RequirementsTo perform job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
