Overview
In this role you will advance fault management across Google's compute fleet, bridging hardware and software to eliminate reliability issues. You will shape telemetry, diagnostics, and automated recovery at scale, influencing hardware/software co-design with vendors and platform teams. You’ll architect data pipelines to turn raw health signals into actionable insights and resilient systems, driving high availability and lower total cost of ownership. This role combines hands-on coding with leadership to set quality standards and guide cross-functional problem solving. You will work on high-impact issues at hyperscale, shaping the reliability of next‑gen compute and storage systems.

ResponsibilitiesDrive fault management goals across the fleet and translate hardware fault behaviors into software telemetry and automated recovery mechanismsLead hardware/software co-design efforts with silicon vendors and platform teams to improve reliabilityArchitect and implement pipelines to collect and analyze fleet-wide telemetry for real-time fault isolationDesign fault-tolerant software frameworks to minimize customer impact and automate mitigation strategiesCollaborate with Hardware Engineering, Technical Infrastructure, and Cloud teams to influence next-generation compute/storage architecturesMentor and guide engineering teams through complex problem-solving and system designValidate and mature Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) capabilities across platforms
