Job Description Job OverviewBecome a part of our team at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic for Veterans in Stockton, CA as an Ophthalmologist!In your role as an Ophthalmologist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating various eye disorders such as cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Your treatment methods will encompass a range of procedures, including cataract surgery, laser therapy for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma management, and injections for macular degeneration. Additionally, you will oversee the daily operations of the Ophthalmology Clinic, ensuring efficient patient care and supervising residents, while also maintaining compliance with Joint Commission standards.Clinical Responsibilities:Your clinical duties will involve providing direct patient care, which includes:Conducting comprehensive history and physical examinationsManaging medicationsEvaluating diagnostic tests and formulating treatment plansPerforming surgical proceduresCompleting clinical reminders as necessaryAdministrative Responsibilities:Your administrative tasks will include:Recording all medical information in an electronic medical record systemEngaging in Process Improvement and Quality Assurance initiativesParticipating in bi-annual Medical Staff activities, including committee involvementOverseeing the operations of the Ophthalmology Clinic to ensure effective patient managementSupervising Ophthalmology residentsConducting medication reconciliationEducational Responsibilities:You will also be responsible for teaching and mentoring Ophthalmology residents.Compensation and BenefitsSalary Range: Expected between $300K and $350K (negotiable based on qualifications and experience).* Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Available.* Education Debt Reduction Program: Available for student loan repayment.* Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional Saturday clinics or extended weekday hours, subject to service needs.* Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.* Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually, including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME.* Retirement Benefits: Traditional federal pension (5-year vesting) and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the organization.* Insurance Coverage: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many plans can be carried into retirement).* Licensure: Must hold one unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.* CME Reimbursement: Up to $1,000 per year (for full-time employees with board certification).* Malpractice Coverage: Liability protection with tail coverage included.* Contractual Obligations: No employment contract required and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.We invite you to explore the opportunity of joining our organization in Stockton, CA.
