TITLE: Automation Engineer – Formulation & Equipment PreparationLOCATION: Concord, North Carolina (Onsite)EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract (Brooksource Engineering Services)DURATION: 12-Months+PAY: Competitive (based on experience)SHIFT: Primarily Day Shift (Flexibility required for Afternoon/Evening shift during first 6–12 months)ABOUT THE ROLEBrooksource Engineering Services is supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing partner in the buildout of a state-of-the-art GMP sterile injectable facility in Concord, NC. We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support formulation and equipment preparation operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment.This role is responsible for automation design oversight, system integration leadership, and lifecycle management of control systems supporting critical manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in automation platforms and prior experience supporting aseptic or GMP-regulated production environments.Safety, quality, and compliance are the highest priorities, and this role plays a key part in ensuring reliable and scalable automation solutions across the facility.WHAT YOU’LL DOProvide automation design oversight to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable system operationManage and coordinate system integrators delivering automation and control systemsLead automation standards, governance, and replication strategies across the siteSupport lifecycle management of automation systems, including upgrades, maintenance, and documentationPartner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless system integrationDrive cybersecurity and engineering information management initiatives for automation systemsEvaluate emerging technologies and develop proof-of-concept automation solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve complex automation and control system issuesPromote best practices across formulation and equipment preparation operationsWHAT YOU BRINGBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field3+ years of experience in automation engineering, machine automation, or process controlExperience working in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or similar environmentsStrong understanding of industrial automation systems and control strategiesExperience with Rockwell Automation platforms (FactoryTalk experience preferred)Ability to troubleshoot and optimize automated systems in a production environmentStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsWillingness to work onsite and support an afternoon/evening shift during initial monthsPreferred ExperienceHands-on aseptic production support experience (beyond validation/qualification activities)Experience with FactoryTalk Batch or similar batch control systemsExposure to formulation, compounding, or equipment preparation processesExperience managing system integrators or external vendorsFamiliarity with data integrity, cybersecurity, and automation lifecycle managementExperience supporting commissioning, qualification, and validation (CSV, IQ/OQ/PQ)Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to work onsite in a GMP manufacturing environmentFlexibility to support off-shift hours (afternoon/evening) as neededAbility to wear required PPE, including cleanroom gowningAbility to stand, walk, and support operations for extended periodsDisclaimerBrooksource, Medasource, and Calculated Hire are part of the Eight Eleven Group family of companies and operate under Eight Eleven Group, LLC.
