Engineering Estimator
Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing manufacturing company in the South Beloit area to hire an Engineering Estimator with strong machining knowledge and business acumen.This is not just a “quote parts off a print” role. The hiring manager is looking for someone who can evaluate manufacturing costs and also think strategically about pricing and profitability.What You’ll Be Doing:Review blueprints, material requirements, labor hours, and manufacturing processes to develop accurate cost estimatesAnalyze RFQs and recommend competitive pricing strategies based on volume, complexity, and profitabilityWork closely with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to support quoting activitiesEstimate machining time, tooling, setup requirements, and material costsSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating accuracy and operational efficiencyMaintain quote history and costing data within ERP/MRP systemsWhat We’re Looking For:Experience estimating within a CNC machining, fabrication, or machine shop environmentStrong understanding of CNC milling, turning, machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing costsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprintsCommercial mindset with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitabilityERP/MRP experience required; Pro Shop experience is a plusCNC programming knowledge is a plus
