Software TechnicianJob Type: W2 ContractContract Duration: 24 MonthsJob Location: Sanford, North Carolina 27330Work Setting: Onsite, First Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMPay Rate: $23.50 - $25.50 per hourWork EnvironmentOn-site lab workspaceProving/design shop environmentEquipment endurance areaDaily work includes a mix of lab-based and machine-based activitiesJob SummaryWork under the direction of a small team of engineers to test and troubleshoot software issues in both lab and equipment environments. This role supports software testing and validation on compact machinery systems, requiring frequent hands-on interaction with machines and close collaboration with engineering teams.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam CollaborationTake task direction and priorities from senior engineers and managementContribute to a collaborative and respectful team cultureProvide routine status updates on assigned work and equipment conditionSoftware & Machine UpdatesMaintain engineering-owned equipment with test and development software versionsTrack and document installed software versions using shared files and documentation systemsCoordinate and execute lab and on-machine verification activitiesAssist with development of software verification test proceduresBuild simple harnesses for instrumentation and data collection when requiredIssue Identification & ResolutionIdentify, document, and submit issues through proper issue-tracking processesInvestigate issues through fault code monitoring, system logs, CAN traces, and operator inputCollaborate with engineering teams to resolve or escalate issues as appropriateContinue troubleshooting efforts even when resolution requires multiple contributorsCandidate RequirementsEducation & ExperienceAssociate’s degree in Agricultural Systems, Automotive Systems, Computer Technology, or equivalent trainingInternship experience accepted as applicable experienceRequired Skills (Top 3)Understanding of serial communication protocols with experience using J1939 CAN or equivalentMinimum 1 year of experience in software testing and developmentExperience using Vector tools (CANape, CANalyzer) for testing or troubleshooting CAN communicationsAdditional Technical Skills (Required)Experience with C/C++ or MATLAB/Simulink (desired)Ability to read electrical schematicsBasic hands-on skills with hand tools, soldering, and electrical connectorsSoft Skills (Required)Strong verbal and written communication skillsProblem-solving and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyCapable of managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneouslyProficiency with Microsoft Excel and WordStrong documentation and tracking skillsDemonstrated emotional intelligence and teamwork skills#INDEPI
