Photonic Integrated Circuit Engineer

We are searching for a photonic integrated circuit engineer to join its PIC development team. The primary role for this candidate is the design, modeling, and simulation of integrated photonic devices and circuits in a variety of PIC material platforms. A successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the team in areas of physical design, layout, characterization and data analysis. Qualifications:Experience with photonic integrated circuit design, fabrication, and characterizationUnderstanding of photonic device physics including waveguides, lasers, modulators, and photodetectorsUnderstanding of basic electronics design for control circuitry a plusLab experience characterizing die-level and packaged PICsExperience with photonic design software (preferably Ansys Lumerical)Experience with physical design and layout software to generate GDS files (preferably KLayout)Experience with DRC processesExperience with MPW submissionsExperience with Python and MATLABAbility to think criticallyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to work in a challenging and fast-paced environmentGood written and verbal communication skillsMaster’s or PhD in electrical engineering, physics or similarU.S. citizen or Green Card HolderResponsibilities:Design and simulate photonic integrated circuits to support system-level applicationsGenerate GDS files based on PIC designs and fabricate through MPW servicesCollect and analyze data on PIC performance to compare to design simulations Assist with PIC packaging design and implementationAssist with development of electronic control systems for PICsHelp improve existing capabilities and develop new capabilities for PIC characterizationCommunicate results in regular meetings, reports, and presentations
