Mechanical Engineer
Design the Future of Mission-Critical InfrastructureMOD42 is growing and seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design systems for modular infrastructure and mission-critical facilities.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.At least 6 years of mechanical engineering or design experience.Strong proficiency with Revit mechanical modeling and construction documentation.Experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, manufacturing, modular, or mission-critical facilities.Working knowledge of hydronic systems, airflow, duct design, mechanical piping, heat transfer, equipment selection, and controls.Ability to independently complete technical assignments while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.Willingness and ability to travel based on project needs.Preferred QualificationsData center or mission-critical facility experience.Experience with modular design, manufacturing, or fabrication.Familiarity with liquid cooling, rear-door heat exchangers, Coolant Distribution Units, chilled-water systems, and redundant cooling systems.Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, BIM 360, or Autodesk Construction Cloud.Familiarity with CFD analysis, energy modeling, startup, or commissioning.Engineer-in-Training certification, Professional Engineer license, or progress toward licensure.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed HVAC and mechanical system models using Revit.Produce coordinated construction documents, fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, schedules, and installation packages.Design HVAC, cooling, hydronic, piping, airflow, and thermal-management systems.Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure-drop calculations, and pump and piping calculations.Select and integrate air handling units, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, Coolant Distribution Units, and related equipment.Coordinate designs with electrical, structural, architectural, controls, manufacturing, commissioning, and field teams.Review vendor drawings, specifications, submittals, and equipment data.Identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, and coordination issues.Support fabrication, installation, startup, troubleshooting, RFIs, field changes, and commissioning.Travel as needed to manufacturing facilities, project sites, and client meetings.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys designing, modeling, coordinating, and producing accurate project documentation.They are practical, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with engineers, manufacturing teams, vendors, contractors, and field personnel.
