Sterling Engineering is partnered with a growing manufacturing organization seeking a Project Engineer to support customer-driven engineering projects from concept through production. This role will work directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide engineering support, coordinate project execution, and ensure successful delivery of custom manufacturing solutions. The position is highly collaborative and will partner closely with internal engineering, manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background combined with customer-facing experience in a manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical and relationship-management sides of engineering. Key Responsibilities:Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers throughout project lifecyclesWork directly with customers to review specifications, discuss project requirements, and provide engineering supportSupport custom manufacturing projects from initial concept through production launchCoordinate project timelines, engineering activities, and cross-functional communicationCollaborate with manufacturing and production teams to support successful project executionAssist in troubleshooting technical issues and identifying practical engineering solutionsReview drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to ensure project accuracySupport continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and production efficiencyMaintain strong communication with both internal teams and external customers regarding project updates and timelinesEnsure projects are completed on time and aligned with customer expectationsSupport a safe, organized, and quality-focused work environment Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline5+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environmentPrevious experience in an Applications Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or customer-facing engineering roleExperience working directly with customers on technical projects and product requirementsStrong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering fundamentalsExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyProficiency with engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentationExperience supporting custom products or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments is a plus
