Job Description SummaryEngineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesTechnical process ownership for critical structural components for aircraft enginesSpecific focus on machining (milling, turning, grinding, assembly, etc). with additional attention on critical special processes (ie: EDM, Laser, Braze, Welding, Coatings, Nickel Plating, etc)Direct responsibilities for dispositioning components against drawing and engineering quality requirements, assigning root causes and corrective actionsManufacturing engineering tasks that do not require 4 year degree. Primarily tactical responsibilities. This does not include general administrative work.Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team membersRequired Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience) + minimum of 3 years manufacturing engineering experienceDesired CharacteristicsKnowledgeable in GD&T, print readingKnowledge of precision machining - including metal cutting principles, work holding, tool holding, and chip mechanicsBachelors degree in engineering or technologyPrior experience in manufacturing operationsKnowledgeable in CAD/CAM systems such as NXBackground or understanding of NC ProgrammingFamiliarity with machining high nickel based alloys and titaniumUnderstanding of LEAN principalsFamiliarity with GE Systems such as ARAS, CAS, CSF, Interax, SSS, eFIStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility to influence and mentor others and lead small teamsAbility to coordinate several projects simultaneouslyEffective problem identification and solution skillsProven analytical and organizational abilityGE Aerospace offers comprehensive benefits and programs to support your health and, along with programs like HealthAhead, your physical, emotional, financial and social wellbeing.
