Development Manager

The Eugene Symphony seeks an energetic, relationship-driven Development Manager to help grow philanthropic support for one of Oregon’s leading cultural institutions. This full-time exempt position leads the Symphony’s annual fund, grants program, direct mail campaigns, recurring giving efforts, donor acquisition, and donor pipeline development. The Development Manager works closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director, and development team to increase donor participation, strengthen donor retention, secure institutional support, and identify future major gift prospects. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, outgoing, and passionate about building relationships. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.Position Summary: The Development Manager serves as a key member of the Eugene Symphony’s fundraising team and is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating annual fundraising initiatives that support the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.Key Responsibilities:Annual Fund & CampaignsLead annual fund fundraising efforts, including direct mail, year-end giving, matching gift campaigns, donor renewals, and digital fundraising appeals Develop donor segmentation and engagement strategies based on giving history and patron activityTrack fundraising performance and recommend strategies to improve participation, retention, and revenueGrants & Institutional GivingManage the Symphony’s grants calendar and submission deadlinesResearch and pursue foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunitiesPrepare grant proposals, reports, budgets, and supporting materialsMaintain grant records and compliance documentationPartner with staff leadership on institutional funding opportunitiesRecurring Giving & Donor GrowthGrow the Symphony Sustainers monthly giving programDevelop strategies to convert ticket buyers and annual fund donors into recurring supportersManage a portfolio of annual fund donors and conduct donor outreach, stewardship, and cultivation activitiesIdentify and qualify prospective major donors for future engagementData & ReportingMaintain accurate donor records and activity tracking within the CRMAnalyze fundraising and donor retention trendsPrepare regular reports on annual fund, grants, and donor pipeline activityQualificationsPreferred qualifications include:Minimum three years of nonprofit fundraising, development, advancement, or related experienceDemonstrated success managing fundraising campaigns, donor programs, grants, or annual giving initiativesStrong written communication skills, including grant writing and donor communicationsExperience working with donor databases and CRM systemsPatronManager and/or Salesforce experience strongly preferredExcellent organizational, project management, and analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, board members, and community partnersAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyPassion for the arts and commitment to the Eugene Symphony’s missionAvailability for occasional evening and weekend eventsThe Eugene Symphony values a collaborative and mission-driven culture.
