Travel Sign Language Interpreter in Federal Way, WA

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support middle school students in a school setting, based in Federal Way, WA, with travel requirements included. This role provides an excellent opportunity for professionals skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) to engage with students and faculty, ensuring effective communication and accessibility.Key Responsibilities:Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf and hard-of-hearing middle school students, their teachers, and peersInterpret classroom instruction, discussions, and presentations in both the written and performance modesCoordinate with educators to adapt materials and ensure accessibility for deaf studentsParticipate in ongoing training and assessments to maintain high standards of interpretationTravel as required to support students across multiple locationsQualifications:Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settingsAbility to manage a caseload focused on middle school studentsMust have an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score or a willingness to obtain it during the school yearCommitment to professional development; the director is a certified state proctor who can administer the EIPA written and performance exams onsiteStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with school staff and familiesPosition Details:Full-time, 6.5 hours per dayImmediate start with assignment through June 16, 2026Location: Federal Way, WashingtonTravel required to various school locations within the districtThis role is ideal for interpreters passionate about supporting educational access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students within a vibrant school community.
