Traveling Construction Site Coordinator Intern

Any information not provided by Van Meter is inaccurate* Summary: The Construction Site Coordinator Intern provides lasting value for our customers by facilitating the needs of the customer?s job site. This includes, but is not limited to ordering material, receiving material at jobsite, providing material coordination and agile construction practices to the jobsite. This individual is an important liaison between Van Meter sales, operations, and customers in the field. This person must be available to commit to this summer internship between May and August (during their designated summer break). The hopeful outcome of this internship is to prepare a potential future employee-owner to join our Traveling team upon graduation. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P?s and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions: Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives Complete returns for parts and tools from the jobsite Accurately maintain jobsite inventory and equipment Complete parts and tools requests through ordering, receiving and shipping Conduct product and tool cleaning, inspection, and storage at the jobsite Work closely with Inside Sales, Purchasing and Operations Provide customer service and support as main contact between Van Meter and customer Set up and relocate fabrication stations/areas Clean, stock and remove excess material from work areas Deliver parts and tools to needed areas of jobsite Receive and distribute deliveries as needed Keep Connex and laydown yard clean and orderly Clean, charge and/or fuel lifts and generators General jobsite housekeeping Assemble lights and other assemblies before installation Responsibly manage expense associated with travel and working in the field Process, cut, and prepare wire orders in an efficient and accurate manner Label, verify and ships all outgoing commodity orders Maintain inventory integrity through uses of cycle count, RD and wire cutting processes Clean, maintain and 5S warehouse, office, and break trailers Utilize multiple tools including, air compressors, nail guns, wire cutting tools, etc. General help with crew members when needed Critical Success Factors: Ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the job site Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to change Ability to effectively communicate with outside vendors and customers Execute duties with the highest regard for safety, continuous improvement, and cost reduction Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment Strong work ethic with a positive attitude Willingness to give and receive constructive feedback Excellent communication skills Strong problem solving ability Ability to analyze workload and establish priorities with time sensitive deadlines Self-motivated Dependable Detail orientated Ability to stay on task Drive for continuous improvement Advocate for Van Meter Job Requirements/Specifications: High school diploma or GED required Going in to Sophomore or Junior status in college Previous customer service experience required Previous distribution center experience preferred Ability to lift 70 lbs. on a consistent basis Ability to operate lift truck equipment Ability to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Demonstrated computer skills Knowledge of Eclipse preferred Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus Forklift operating experience required Ability to return the following summer Work Environment & Physical Demands: C=Consistent, more than 2/3s of the time Standing Walking Lifting Work Indoors F=Frequent, from 1/3 to 2/3s of the time Carrying Pushing Bending @ the waist Twisting upper body Reaching Working with hands Working with fingers Vision acuity-near Vision acuity-far Depth perception Field of vision Vision adjustment Color vision Team lifting Works with others Cold Heat Temperature changes S= Some, less than 1/3 of the time Sitting Climbing Balancing Kneeling Crouching Talking Hearing Driving Works alone Non-standard work shift Extended day Humid Noise Work outdoors Mechanical hazards O=Occasional, less than 1 time per week Crawling Wet Vibration Confined area High places Fumes Odors Dusts Mists Gases Poor ventilation The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
