The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Rockford seeking Environmental Health & Safety Specialists who want more than a lateral move. Key Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). * Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance. * Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures specific to manufacturing operations. * Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. * Provide EHS training to employees on topics such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response. * Manage hazardous waste, wastewater, and air emission programs, ensuring proper handling, disposal, and permitting. * Monitor key EHS performance indicators, prepare reports, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Recommended Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field. * 3-5 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. * Demonstrated expertise in OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local EHS regulations. * Proven experience developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, hazard communication, waste management). * Ability to conduct EHS inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis. * Strong communication, training, and presentation skills across all organizational levels. Bonus Qualifications * Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems, including internal auditing. * Proficiency with EHS management software platforms (e.g., Gensuite, Intelex, Sphera). * Progress towards professional certifications such as CSP or CIH. * Experience applying Lean principles or continuous improvement methodologies to EHS processes. * Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging EHS training programs for diverse audiences.
