Position OverviewThe Electrical Lead – Power Plant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating electrical maintenance, construction, and operational activities within a power generation facility. This role provides technical leadership for electrical systems and ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plant procedures, engineering specifications, and regulatory requirements.The Electrical Lead supports plant reliability and performance by coordinating electrical work activities, supervising technicians and contractors, and ensuring electrical systems are maintained and installed according to design standards. This individual works closely with plant operations, engineering, maintenance teams, and contractors to support project execution, equipment reliability, and plant safety.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Leadership & Field CoordinationLead and coordinate electrical maintenance, repair, and installation activities across the power plant facility.Provide technical direction and support to electricians, technicians, and contractors performing electrical work.Ensure electrical work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, plant standards, and regulatory requirements.Support plant outages, upgrades, and capital improvement projects involving electrical equipment and systems.Safety & CompliancePromote and enforce strict adherence to plant safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company safety programs.Conduct and lead daily job briefings and safety discussions with electrical crews.Participate in safety inspections, job hazard analyses, and field audits to ensure safe work practices.Ensure electrical work activities comply with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and plant policies.Project & Maintenance SupportCoordinate electrical work activities with operations, maintenance planners, and project managers to ensure efficient scheduling and execution.Assist with development and implementation of maintenance schedules, project timelines, and outage planning.Support construction and upgrade projects by overseeing electrical installations, testing, and commissioning activities.Monitor project progress and assist in resolving technical or operational issues impacting schedule or performance.Quality Assurance & System ReliabilityEnsure electrical installations, repairs, and modifications meet quality standards and engineering requirements.Support inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of plant electrical systems and equipment.Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems, equipment, and instrumentation.Ensure accurate documentation of electrical work, inspections, and testing activities.Coordination & CommunicationMaintain effective communication with plant leadership, engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.Assist in coordinating site deliveries, materials, and electrical equipment needed for maintenance or project work.Maintain daily work logs, maintenance records, and reports related to electrical activities and personnel.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred.Equivalent technical training or experience in electrical power systems may be considered.ExperienceMinimum 7+ years of experience working with industrial electrical systems, power generation facilities, substations, or large-scale electrical infrastructure.Experience supervising or leading electrical crews in an industrial or power plant environment.Strong experience with electrical distribution systems, power plant equipment, or substations.Preferred ExperienceJourneyman Electrician or equivalent electrical trade certification.Experience supporting power plant outages, commissioning, and electrical system upgrades.Knowledge of high-voltage systems, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and plant electrical infrastructure.Required SkillsStrong leadership and field coordination abilitiesKnowledge of industrial electrical systems and power generation equipmentUnderstanding of electrical safety standards and regulatory complianceAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAdditional RequirementsAbility to work in a power plant environment, including field and equipment areas.Ability to support outages, maintenance schedules, and emergency response when required.Valid driver’s license required.
