Network Engineer

Must be a USC or GC holder No 3rd party nor vendors This is a on site role, NO relocations Must LIVE in Syracuse, NY SOFT's client, located in Syracuse, NY is looking for an engineer for a long term contract assignment. Expertise in some or all of the following communications technologies: o RF Data Communication Systems including point to point, point to multipoint and mesh topologies. o Private and Public LTE networkso Fiber Optic and Microwave Transport Systemso Leased wired and wireless services o Computer Network Routing/Switching, Cloud Services o AMI Field Networks The selected candidate is primarily responsible for engineering design, implementation, integration, and troubleshooting support for telecommunications and data network systems involving electric transmission, distribution, sub-transmission, metering and other grid technologies. Job duties will include evaluation of emerging technologies; participation in equipment specification and selection; and performing end-to-end solution design including validation and testing of advanced communications systems. You will work closely with our Substation Engineering, Protection Engineering, Distribution Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Meter Engineering, and other departments to provide communications solutions for projects assigned to those groups. In addition, you will be responsible for the development of long-term strategies for telecom networks supporting substations, distribution system controls, meters and other fixed and mobile devices.
