A Swine Technician in a Wean-to-Finish system manages the daily care of pigs from weaning until they reach market weight focusing on health, and welfare of pigs. This role involves performing tasks related to animal husbandry, health management, feeding, marketing and facility maintenance to ensure the highest standards of swine production.Essential FunctionsDaily monitoring of health and follow protocols.Ensuring proper barn temperature, ventilation, and air quality.Barn preparation between groups of pigs.Assisting with pigs' movements.Managing feeding schedules, cleaning feeders, checking waterers, and ensuring optimal feed availability for growth.Maintaining accurate daily records.Pig market selection and marketing.Strict adherence to biosecurity protocols.Follow animal welfare, biosecurity regulations and company policies.Marginal FunctionsLight groundskeeping and upkeep around the farmPower washingLight maintenanceOther duties and projects assigned by the Farm Manager.Qualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience.Experience in animal husbandry or swine production is preferred but not requiredStrong attention to detail and ability to follow protocolsAbility to work independently and as part of a team.We support global talent and offer employment-based visa sponsorship for qualified applicantsWork EnvironmentExposure to loud noises, odors, and varying temperatures.Agricultural swine environment in rural areas.Physical RequirementsStanding, walking, and ability to be on foot 8 to 10 hours per dayFrequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneelingFrequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pullFrequent lifting of objects weighing 3-20 poundsOccasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or requiring up to 50 pounds of force to moveOccasional bending while pulling and/or lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds or requiring up to 100 pounds of force to move with the assistance of another person as neededAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingMust be able to print and/or write legiblyAdditional RequirementsWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as neededMust have reliable method of transportation to get to work
